Katisha is an experienced and multifaceted attorney with expertise in risk management, compliance, all stages of civil litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. She excels at process improvement, writing and helping to implement risk management protocols, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop solutions to complex legal issues.
Katisha currently serves as a Deputy Attorney General with the Delaware Department of Justice where she is exposed to the most important litigation and policy issues in Delaware. In her role as a Deputy, she provides legal support for the Delaware Office of the Attorney General and several state agencies for (i) internal investigations, (ii) compliance with state and federal law (Freedom of Information Act, CFR, HIPAA, Administrative Procedures Act, state regulations, Rules of Civil Procedure), (iii) employment disputes and resolutions, and (iv) the prosecution of administrative complaints before Delaware’s Board’s and Commissions.
Prior to joining the Attorney General’s office, Katisha worked in private practice as a bankruptcy and commercial contracts attorney. There, she developed an expertise in Delaware corporate law, reviewed and drafted opinion letters regarding complicated structured finance transactions, and represented corporate debtors and creditors in commercial bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation proceedings under Chapters 7, 11 and 15 of the Bankruptcy Code.
Katisha obtained her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia, PA. Katisha also obtained a bachelor’s degree in music from the Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. In addition to Katisha’s legal work, Katisha participates in community endeavors supporting criminal justice reform, education, and diversity and inclusion. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Delaware Center for Justice and also serves on the Board of the Kuumba Academy Charter School in Wilmington. Katisha and her husband, Makenson, just celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary, and keep themselves busy raising their amazing three kids.
