My name is Kimberly Nurse and I was born and raised in Newark Delaware. At the age of 8, I began dancing at the Jean Ferrill Dance Studio. Eventually, I joined the performing company where we danced at a variety of nursing homes every weekend around Delaware. I continued dancing throughout high school at Hodgson Vo-Tech where I also ran cross country and track. In June 2008 I graduated third in my class and then attended Lincoln University in PA in the fall of 2008. While at Lincoln University, I ran cross country and track, was the captain of the school’s dance team in 2010, and was a part of the
Horace Mann Bond Honor Society. I graduated in May of 2012 with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education with a 3.9 grade average. (Summa Cum Laude). Upon graduating, I began teaching full time as a head preschool teacher at the Learning Express and part time at the Western YMCA as a dance instructor. In January of 2014, I reached my first goal of buying a home at the age of 23. My next goal was to start my own business as a dance studio owner and at the end of May 2015, I opened the doors to Little Stars Dance Studio. This will be the first dance year operating coming up in September. I have also competed in a few pageants including Miss Delaware USA in 2013 and 2014 and won the title of Newark’s Miss Cinderella Woman in 2014. I have also started an adventure in photography and can be found doing local photography and portrait sessions for those who cannot afford expensive photography. I am honored to be an honoree and cannot wait to see what else my future holds in store for me.
